Inlaid Black Planter – designed by
Piers Williams

Detail of construction
This planter is made from one piece of black granite. It has then been inlaid with 180 pieces of black and red granite and white and yellow marble. Each piece has been individually cut to size by hand and placed at two degree intervals around the circumference of the pot in order that the pattern is not broken. To cut such small pieces of hard yet brittle stone is a feat in itself. To polish a carved pot of this shape and size by hand also requires skill and patience. When I designed the planter I was not sure it could be made.
It is called Melting Pot because it shows all the colours of the people of the world together.

Four seasons Fireplace – designed by Piers Williams
Carved in White Marble – 61cm by 43.2cm
This fireplace is a four seasons design with the left pillar representing spring. The central motif summer and the right pillar autumn. Winter is when the fire is lit! The two birds are purely personal elements from my life.
The blackbird that ate all the cherries from our cherry tree, just as my wife was about to pick them, and the dove that coos incessantly in our garden. In the centre at the top the bees represent industry, by which the snail will eventually reach the cabbage leaf.
